Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School celebrates patron's feast with faith and fervour

Mangaluru, Feb 11: The Lourdite community came together to celebrate the feast of its patroness, Our Lady of Lourdes, on February 11 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The celebration commenced at the LCS grounds, and it was an honour to have Fr Peter Mascarenhas, former chairman of Montfort Fathers Society, India, as the chief guest.

The occasion was also graced by Dr John Baptist Saldanha, manager of LCS, Fr Johnson L Sequeira, principal, Fr Norman Mathias, Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas, vice principals, Ashok Pinto, vice president and Avitha Pinto secretary of Bejai parish pastoral parishad. The programme began with a prayer service, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira.

Students of class 6 provided a deeper insight into the significance of the day through a skit, shedding light on the importance of the feast and its relevance to the Lourdite community. The students were ecstatic to participate in the celebration, and on behalf of the Lourdite community, Angelin Shinoj and Joanna expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to come together and honour their patroness.

Fr Peter Mascarenhas, the chief guest, addressed the gathering and enlightened everyone with his inspiring words, emphasizing the significance of faith and devotion. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, manager of LCS, also spoke to the audience, offering wise words of encouragement and support, reinforcing the school’s mission and vision.

Adding to the grandeur of the celebration, a beautiful cultural programme was presented by the students, featuring a graceful dance performance and a meaningful skit, all put together under the guidance of their dedicated teachers. The performances captivated the audience and added a special touch to the event, reflecting the students’ creativity and devotion.

The celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes was a joyous and memorable occasion for the Lourdite community. The event was a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering a sense of community and spirituality among its students, teachers, and staff.

The program ended by wishing the birthday children and singing the school anthem, followed by the Eucharistic celebration. The whole programme was compered by our students Jayden Pinto and Lancia Pais.

Collection drive

The school conducted a collection drive where items of daily use and grocery items were collected by staff and students and were given to various Ashrams. The event was a resounding success.
