Mangaluru: Srinivas University to fete achievers from different fields on Feb 14

Mangaluru, Feb 12: Srinivas University Founders’ Day & College Day of Srinivas University & Srinivas Group of Institutions will be held at 10 am on February 14 at Srinivas University Campus, Mukka, Surathkal. Krishna Hegde Miyar, HR, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) will deliver the Founders Day address.

Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University and president of A Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru will be presiding over the programme.

Dr A Srinivas Rao (pro-chancellor, Srinivas University and vice president ofSriniv as Group of Institutions), A. Vijayalakshmi R Rao (trustee-member, board of governors, Srinivas University), Prof. Er A Mitra S. Rao (trustee-member, board of governors, Srinivas University), Padmini Kumar (trustee-member, board of governors, Srinivas University), Dr Satyanarayan Reddy (vice chancellor), Dr Anil Kumar (registrar), Dr Srinivas Mayya (registrar - evaluation), Dr Ajay Kumar (registrar - development), Dr Adithya Kumar Maiya (registrar - academic) will be present on the dais. 

On the occasion of Founders Day, Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of Colleges, achievers will be felicitated with awards from different fields.

A Shama Rao Foundation recognises the contribution of teachers at High School and PU College level in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. This year, the foundation has selected Sudha, (teacher, Social Science and English, Sri Sharada High School, Panemangalore) and Ravichandra (lecturer, Govt PU College, Katipalla, Krishnapura) for A
Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Teacher Award – 2025 for their contribution in the field of Education in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

Ramakrishna Mayya Siribagilu (Yakshagana Bhaghavatha Dakshina Kannada) is selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for his contribution in the field of Yakshagana. He is part of the Sri Dharmasthala Yakshagana Mandali and has been staging the shows for the last 36 years. He is the recipient of more than 100 honours. He has established “Siribagilu Venkapayya Cultural Foundation”, Kasaragod.

Karnataka Kalashree Geetha Saralaya, (Director, Nrutya Bharati, Kadri, Mangaluru) is selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for her contribution in the field of Fine Arts (Nrithya). She is a highly qualified and acclaimed Bharatanatya dance performer, trainer and organiser. She has been involved in Bharatanatya field for the last 50 years.

Pathumudi Suryanarayana Rao is selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for his contribution in the field of Hospitality & Catering Service. He is reputed hotelier owns Hotel Janata Deluxe and popular vegetarian restaurant in Mangaluru. This restaurant is known for its quality and hygiene.

K Raghavendra Tantri is selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for his contribution in the field of Pourohithya & Astrology. He is the recipient of “Tantra Ratna” from Uchila Temple and state-level Veda Prashasti and involved in Pourohithya, Astrology and many religious activities since 2004.

Eshwar Malpe is selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for his contribution in the field of Social Service. He is a self taught under water search and rescue expert from Udupi. Because of his expert skills in under water salvage, he is popularly known as “Aqua Man” of Udupi.

Jayalakshmi Bhat is selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for her contribution in the field of Fine Arts – Veena Instrumental Music. She has been conducting Veena classes in Mangaluru for the last 15 years. Every year Vidushi Jayalakshmi Bhat along with her students participate in Navaratri festival celebrations in “Shata Veena Vaividhya Programme” at Uchila Mahalakshmi Temple.

B K Madhava Rao is selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for his contribution in the field of Painting. His painting skills are extraordinary and eye catching. After retiring from service in State Bank of Mysore in 2014, he is actively involved in painting and achieved extra ordinary skills.

Venkataramana Banninthaya, is selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for his contribution in the field of Jothishya Shastra. He is drafting the famous Shastra Siddha Sri Krishna Panchanga.

Proud Son of Adka Shama Rao, a renowned chartered accountant, visionary cademician, Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao started the first educational institution (i.e. Srinivas College of Hotel Management) in the year 1988. The group started with just 7 students. Today, more than 12,000 students are pursuing their higher education at Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of Institutions.

Around 5,000 faculty and staff are serving the student community at Srinivas University. The group has established many milestones in the quality education in the field of healthcare, medical, dental, para-medical, allied health sciences, hotel management, engineering & technology, physiotherapy, nursing, aviation studies, social sciences & humanities, management & commerce, education, journalism, sanskrit, and yoga.
