Udupi: Inter-district bike thieves arrested in Padubidri

Udupi, Feb 13: The Padubidri police have arrested inter-district bike thieves in connection with the theft of a Bullet bike that took place 20 days ago in the Padubidri market.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Ruhaan, a resident of Soolebailu in Shivamogga district, and Tajuddin P K also known as Taju, a resident of Gopal in Shivamogga.

The police have recovered the stolen Bullet bike along with a Maruti Ritz car used during the theft. The accused were presented before the court, which has remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days.

On January 21 night, Parikshith Shetty, a resident of Mundkur, had parked his Bullet bike in the Padubidri market before heading to work. Upon his return, he found the bike missing and subsequently lodged a complaint at the Padubidri police station. Following an investigation, the police apprehended the suspects in Shivamogga and interrogated them.

Tajuddin has multiple cases against him across various police stations in Shivamogga district, including Kote, Vinoba Nagar, Tunga Nagar, Dodda Pete, and Agumbe, related to robbery, kidnapping, and vehicle theft. He also has robbery and vehicle theft cases registered at Sagara city and rural police stations, a robbery and house theft case in Hassan district, and vehicle and house theft cases in Dharwad city police station. Arrest warrants had been issued against him by all these police stations.

Mohammad Ruhaan is accused in a gold shop theft case registered at Jigani police station in Bengaluru district. Additionally, he has cases related to student kidnapping at Vinobanagar police station and vehicle theft at Kote police station in Shivamogga district, which are still under investigation.

    These are pious, innocent men, with noble intentions... The state must therefore declare suitable " Bhagya " ( Guarantees ) as a measure to prevent such individuals from indulging in criminal behaviour....
