Mangaluru: SJEC recognises outstanding faculty at Research Awards 2025

Mangaluru, Feb 13: The prestigious SJEC Research Awards 2025 recognised outstanding faculty members for their contributions to research, innovation, and mentorship in the year 2024.

The awards, which aim to foster academic excellence and innovation, were presented on the auspicious occasion of twenty-fourth foundation day at SJEC under five categories: distinguished research/innovation, best research publication, highest research impact, early career research, and exemplary research/innovation mentorship.

Distinguished research/innovation award: The highest honour of the evening, the distinguished research/innovation award, was conferred upon Dr K Jyothi Damodara, professor & head, department of Chemistry. This award acknowledges excellence in securing research and innovation grants, high-impact publications, and successful patent filings.

Best research publication award: The best research publication award, recognising faculty members for outstanding research papers and books published in indexed journals and renowned conferences, was presented to Dr ESTR Chandra Shekar B, associate professor, department of civil engineering.

Highest research impact award: The highest research impact award, which honours faculty members whose research has significantly influenced academia, industry, and society, was awarded to Dr Shreeranga Bhat, professor & head, department of Mechanical Engineering. His contributions over the past five years have led to advancements in practical applications, patents, and research collaborations.

Early career research award: Encouraging promising researchers in the early stages of their careers, the early career research award was presented to Manjunath B, assistant professor, department of Civil Engineering. This award recognizes significant research contributions in indexed journals and conferences.

Exemplary research/innovation mentorship award: Acknowledging exceptional mentorship in guiding students towards research and innovation, the exemplary research/innovation mentorship award was awarded to Glenson Toney, assistant professor, department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. His mentorship efforts have led to student-driven patents, industry collaborations, and innovative projects.

Dr Anil Joseph Pinto, registrar, Christ University, Bengaluru, chief guest of the programme gave away the Research awards in the presence of Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, assistant director, Dr Rio D’Souza, principal and Dr Purushothama Chippar, vice principal. The SJEC Research Awards continue to highlight the institution’s commitment to academic and research excellence, inspiring faculty members to push the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.
