Udupi: Netrajyothi Institution holds convocation ceremony, inauguration of PG centre

Udupi, Feb 14: Netrajyothi Institute of Allied Health Sciences and Netrajyothi College of Paramedical Sciences, a part of Netrajyothi Charitable Trust and Prasad Netralaya Super Specialty, holds convocation ceremony and inauguration of post graduate centre, at Vegas Township, Kinni Mulki, Udupi on February 13.

Goa chief minister Dr Pramod Sawanth inaugurated the postgraduate centre symbolically by lighting the lamp. The new Post Graduate Centre offers programmes, including master’s in public health, master’s in hospital administration, MSc MLT (clinical biochemistry), MSc MLT (microbiology & immunology), and MSc MLT (hematology & blood transfusion), have been introduced.

Dr Pramod Sawanth, in his inaugural note said, “More students opting for paramedical courses is a positive development. There is a shortage of professionals in the paramedical field, and there are ample opportunities across the country. Paramedical staff play a crucial role in assisting doctors in the medical field. The increasing number of students choosing this field is a positive development. Prasad Netralaya has been offering great public service through medical camps in Goa. Additionally, under the student exchange program, opportunities are being provided for students from Udupi to train in Goa.”

Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor MAHE Manipal, addressing the gathering, emphasized that having competitors and adversaries in life is essential for achieving success. Hard work is a crucial factor for success. He also highlighted that educating women is equivalent to educating an entire community, and the increasing number of rural women pursuing education is commendable. He further noted that in hospitals, nurses play a more significant role than doctors in patient recovery, and those pursuing nursing courses should take pride in their profession.

The event was presided over by Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna.

During the convocation, Dr Pramod Sawant conferred degrees upon the graduates. The Late Veena Raghuram Rao Endowment Award was presented to outstanding students on the occasion.
The college's founding president, Dr Kudlu Krishnaprasad, welcomed the gathering. College trustee Rashmi Krishnaprasad gave an introductory note. MIT professor Balakrishna Maddodi, Raksha, and Ayesha compered the event.

Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kapu MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, and college trustees K Raghuram Rao and Rashmi Krishnaprasad, and college COO Dr Gauri Prabhu were present on the occasion.
