Mangaluru: St Theresa’s School celebrates primary section Sports Day with enthusiasm

Mangaluru, Feb 15: St Theresa’s School celebrated its annual Sports Day for the primary section on February 14 at the school grounds, the Maximus Ludorum Festum, a grand festival of games, was filled with excitement, energy, and the spirit of sportsmanship. The event was graced by the presence of Dominic Rosario, senior director of engineering at UnifyCX, as the chief guest, accompanied by correspondent Sr Shaila, principal Sr Lourdes, vice principal Sr Reena, PTA vice president Collette Cabral and coordinator Olivia.

The day began with a solemn guard of honour by the school band, welcoming the dignitaries with grandeur. The ceremony commenced by seeking God’s blessings, setting a positive and inspiring tone for the day.

Principal Sr Lourdes extended a warm welcome to the gathering and introduced the esteemed chief guest. The students then showcased their discipline and coordination through a vibrant parade, displaying their marching talent with pride.

The school’s motto, ‘Bloom Forth in Love', was upheld as the school flag was hoisted by the chief guest, symbolizing unity and aspiration. The sports Jyothi was lit, serving as a reminder that hope never fades, and the sports captain led the students in the oath-taking ceremony, pledging fair play and integrity. The chief guest then declared the sports meet open, igniting excitement among the young athletes.

A series of fun and engaging events were organized for the students:

• Std 1: Balancing the Book
• Std 2: Dumbbell Race
• Std 3: Dumbbell Race
• Std 4: Getting Ready to the Party
• Std 5: Fill Up the Bottle

The children participated enthusiastically, showcasing their agility, balance, and team spirit. It was indeed a day filled with joy, laughter, and healthy competition. The winners were honoured with medals and certificates, celebrating their hard work and achievements.

The event concluded with a closing ceremony, where the much-awaited champion trophy for the best house for the year 2024-25 was awarded amidst loud cheers and applause. The school flag was lowered and the sports captain handed over the school flag to the principal ceremoniously.

St Theresa’s School once again demonstrated its commitment to holistic development, encouraging students to excel not only in academics but also in sports and extracurricular activities. The day ended on a high note, leaving behind cherished memories and inspiring young minds to aim higher.
