Cancer awareness, free screening camp for women held in Udupi by MGM NSS

Udupi, Feb 17: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of MGM College, in collaboration with the department of community medicine, KMC Manipal, and the Women's Doctors' Wing of IMA Udupi Karavali, organized a cancer awareness and free screening camp at Sri Narayanaguru Sabha Bhavan, Manipal.

Senior obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Rajalakshmi Santekatte participated as the resource person and addressed the gathering. She highlighted the increasing number of cancer cases in India and emphasized the need to dispel misconceptions about the disease. "Breast and cervical cancer are common among women, but if detected at an early stage, they can be completely cured," she stated.

Following the awareness session, free screening tests were conducted for women. The event was graced by the presence of Dr Archana Bhakt, president of the Women's Doctors' Wing, IMA Udupi Karavali, and Pushpalatha, the camp coordinator from the department of community medicine, KMC Manipal.

Volunteer Sreesha welcomed the gathering, while Sushmita delivered the vote of thanks. Vandana Pai introduced the guests, and Samhita compered the event.
