J&K: IGP Jammu zone reviews security situation in Kathua

Jammu, Feb 18 (IANS): IGP Jammu zone, Bhim Sen Tuti on Monday reviewed security at forward operating bases in Kathua district.

A police official said that the IGP was accompanied by Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, DIG JSK Range; Shobhit Saxena, IPS, SSP Kathua; Vikrant Prasher, SC, SSP Special Operations & Trainings; Kameshwar Puri, SP PC Jammu; Aumer Iqbal, SP Operations Upper Kathua and senior officers from the Army and Paramilitary forces.

“During the visit, the IGP reviewed the existing security arrangements, operational readiness, and coordination mechanisms between the police, Army, and paramilitary forces. He interacted with officers and personnel deployed at these strategic locations, inquired about their operational challenges, and acknowledged their dedication to safeguarding the region,” he said.

He added that the IGP emphasised the need for heightened vigilance, enhanced surveillance, and proactive measures to counter any potential security threats.

He reiterated the importance of seamless inter-agency coordination to ensure the safety and security of border areas.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired two security review meetings on J&K recently.

The Home Minister gave clear orders to the security dirges to ensure zero infiltration and show zero tolerance to the terrorists.

J&K L-G also chaired two separate security review meetings last week, one in Srinagar and the other in Jammu.

L-G gave directions to the security forces and the police to ensure that the sympathisers of terrorism feel the heat during anti-terrorist operations so that they refrain from indulging in such anti-national activities.

He has ordered the security forces to dismantle the ecosystem of terror including its over ground workers (OGWs) and sympathisers so that terrorism is rooted out from J&K.
