Mangalore: ‘Efforts to Divide BJP Will Fail’ – Chief Minister

Mangalore, Jan 13: “Some quarters have been trying to divide the state BJP by creating a wedge between its leaders. As of now, there is neither any confusion, nor rivalry between the party leaders. These efforts are destined to be doomed,” said Karnataka Chief Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda.

He was speaking to reporters during his visit to the city for inaugurating National Youth Festival on Thursday January 12. “All of us including me, Yeddyurappa, and Eshwarappa, are together. People assigned with specific jobs are looking after organizational affairs of the party. As I have the responsibility of running the government, which requires my undivided attention, I have not been able to give enough attention to party’s organizational issues. Now I have been giving more importance to the budget session being held during March, and other important issues,” he revealed.

About the discussions held between Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and BJP leaders at Bangalore on Wednesday, Gowda said there is nothing strange in it. “We are members of the same family. So we sat together and exchanged views,” he claimed.

The Chief Minister said that the next date of assembly session has been fixed as January 30, after taking leaders of the other parties including the opposition, into confidence, adding that there need not be any misunderstandings on this issue. He added that the Governor will be addressing the joint session of the legislature that day, and that it is customary for the leaders of the opposition to be present during this address.
