Theft reported at Mundaje offertory box near Beltangady

Beltangady, Feb 19: In a broad daylight theft, miscreants broke open the offertory box of Sri Ullaya-Ullalti Katte, located along the Chibidre-Mundaje border on the Mangaluru-Villupuram national highway, and stole the cash.

The incident occurred between 11 AM and 1 PM on Tuesday. Unknown thieves forcefully broke open the box and took away the money.

The temple committee collects the offerings weekly, and it is estimated that more than Rs 3,000 is usually deposited.

According to temple in-charge Ganesh Banger, the last collection was made four days ago, and it is suspected that over Rs 2,000 may have been stolen.
