Udupi, Feb 20: Trinity Central School, Perampalli Udupi, celebrated Grandparents’ Day with great enthusiasm on February 15, creating a memorable day filled with joy, gratitude and appreciation for the grandparents of the students.

Nagaraj Varkady, a renowned journalist and artist, was the chief guest of the day. He, in his words, highlighted the invaluable role of grandparents in shaping young minds and preserving cultural values.

Vibrant dance and musical performance by the grandchildren for their beloved grandparents was the highlight of the day. The students showcased their talents through energetic dance routines set to nostalgic tunes, while soulful musical performances created an emotional and heart-warming atmosphere. Seeing their grandchildren perform with enthusiasm and love was a touching moment for the grandparents, making the celebration even more special.

The event included fun and excitement games for grandparents, bringing out their enthusiasm and playful spirit. The winners were awarded with prizes, making the occasion more delightful.

A special moment of the event was the recognition and honour given to the eldest grandparents and an octogenarian great-grandmother, acknowledging their presence and contributions to their families and society.

The school’s leadership, including principal Fr Dominic Suni Lobo, vice principal and administrator Fr Ravi Rajesh Serrao, PTA president Abdulla, secretary Priya Furtado, academic coordinator Magdelina Lewis, primary section head Poornima Devadiga, and pre-primary section head Renita Montero, played a pivotal role in organizing the event and ensuring its success.

In a remarkable initiative for the well-being of grandparents, a free dental camp was organized by Dr Jishnu Pradeep and Dr Hrishitha from the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal. The camp provided essential dental check-ups and oral health awareness, reflecting the school’s commitment to caring for the elderly.

The event concluded on a heartwarming note, with grandparents reminiscing about their past while creating new memories with their grandchildren.

Pallavi Santhosh welcomed the gathering. Akhila delivered the vote of thanks. Namratha compered the event.

The event was attended by teachers, non-teaching staff, and ancillary staff.
