Srinivas University's Institute of Management and Commerce organises Industrial visit

Mangaluru, Feb 20: An industrial visit was organised by the department of BCom of Srinivas University Institute of Management and Commerce for the 2nd Year BCom students of the college to Navadurga Food Products Company, a renowned manufacturer of Ribbons and Balloons Cake outlets.

The visit was arranged on February 11 at their facility located in Nandikur, near Padubidri, Udupi District. A total of 55 students, along with two faculty members, participated in the visit.

The primary objectives of this industrial visit were: To provide students with a first-hand understanding of cake production and food manufacturing processes, to observe how hygiene is maintained in the food production industry and to gain knowledge about the company’s operations and its supply chain services in coastal Karnataka.

The students were given an in-depth tour of the factory by Padmashree, the marketing executive of the company, who served as the guide for the day. The students were shown the live cake-making process, where they learned about the various stages of production, from the mixing of ingredients to the final packaging.

Factory staff members were also present to explain the different steps involved and the machinery used in the process. The students were then offered refreshments, including crunchy chips and delicious cakes, allowing them to experience the quality of the products firsthand.

The industrial visit was organised under the constant support and guidance of Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean of IMC, Prof Sharmila Shetty, head of the BCom department, Prof Yashashwi A Ail, course coordinator of ACCA, Prof Prathijna K, IV coordinator and all the staffers of BCom department.

The visit to Navadurga Food Products Company was an enriching experience for the students. It not only provided valuable insights into the cake production process but also offered a deeper understanding of the importance of hygiene in food manufacturing. The students gained practical knowledge of industry practices and services in the food sector, which will undoubtedly enhance their academic learning and future career prospects.
