Delhi man arrested after fatal accident in Goa’s Mandrem

Panaji, Feb 22: A tragic accident in Mandrem on Friday night claimed the life of Mariefeliz Fernandes, a resident of Junaswada, after she was allegedly hit by a speeding car.

The accused, identified as 23-year-old Deepan Rajeev Batra from Delhi, was driving an i20 (DL 4CBC 2576) when the accident occurred. According to police, Fernandes was standing by the roadside when Batra’s vehicle struck her.

Following the incident, Batra surrendered at the Mandrem police station and was subsequently arrested. The accident has sparked tension in the area, with locals accusing Batra of murder and demanding strict action.

Police are investigating the case, and further details are awaited.
