Coastal road near Haji Ali partially blocked for repairs

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 23: Traffic movement near Haji Ali on the Coastal Road will remain partially blocked till Sunday as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) undertakes rectification work on uneven patches.

Following criticism over a viral video showing bumpy mastic asphalt patches on the Coastal Road and Haji Ali interchange, the BMC initiated repair work on Saturday. Officials stated that the mastic layer was applied as a preventive measure before the 2024 monsoon, but joint separations led to uneven surfaces.

To address the issue, the existing mastic is being removed, and a fresh layer of asphalt will be laid within the next two days. Meanwhile, a section of the northbound road remains closed to vehicles, affecting traffic flow in the area.
