22-year-old woman kidnapped, gang-raped by ex-boyfriend and his friends in Bhiwandi

Mumbai, Feb 23: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend and his five friends before being gang-raped by four of them in Bhiwandi’s Shanti Nagar area.

According to police, the accused, enraged over the woman’s new relationship, lured her by holding her brother hostage. The woman, who saw multiple missed calls from her brother in the early hours of Friday, rushed to the designated spot in a rickshaw. Upon arrival, she found her ex-boyfriend and his friends waiting along with her brother. The accused then assaulted her brother and the rickshaw driver before abducting her.

The woman was taken to an isolated area behind a school, where four of the six accused allegedly raped her in turns. She was then moved to another location and assaulted again in a pick-up van.

Police have registered a case of kidnapping and gang rape against the six accused. So far, one has been arrested while efforts are on to nab the rest. All accused are reportedly aged between 20 and 25. Investigations are ongoing.
