Mysuru, Feb 23: A fire on Chamundi Hill, believed to be deliberately set, has destroyed 35 acres of forest land. The blaze, which engulfed areas in Devikere and Gollahalli, was intensified by strong winds and high temperatures.
Authorities are investigating the fire as arson, and despite efforts from firefighters and forest officials, the flames spread rapidly. “We couldn’t access the area in time, but the fire has now been contained,” said officials.

Fortunately, no wildlife was harmed, as animals, including leopards and deer, managed to flee to safety. The forest department has advised the public to refrain from smoking in the area to prevent further incidents.
For safety, the district administration has been urged to close the temple gates by 6 pm, ahead of the usual 10 pm closure.
