Gokula centenary: Young violin prodigy Ganga Shashidharan mesmerizes music lovers

Mumbai (RBI), Feb 26: As part of its year-long centenary celebrations, BSKB Association, Gokula, Sion, organized a violin recital by 11-year-old violin prodigy from Guruvayur, Kumari Ganga Shashidharan, at the Chembur Fine Arts Hall on Saturday, February 22.

Ganga enthralled the audience with her exceptional violin skills, performing classical compositions such as Vatapi Ganapatim Bhaje, Endaro Mahanubhavulu, Krishna Nee Begane Baro, Nagumomu, Shankarabharanam, Mamava Madhava Krishna, Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma, and Harivarasanam. Playing with effortless grace, she captivated music lovers with her mastery and cheerful expression, earning resounding applause from the packed auditorium.

She was accompanied by talented instrumentalists—Rohit Prasad on the mridangam, Srikumar C H on the tavil, Manjoor Unnikrishnan on the ghatam, Vaikom Vijayakumar on the rhythm pad, and Cherthala Sunil Lal on the keyboard—who provided excellent support to her performance.

BSKB Association president Dr Suresh S Rao and office-bearers honored Kumari Ganga Shashidharan and the accompanying musicians with shawls, flower bouquets, and mementos. Deethya Shivattaya introduced the artists, while Vinodini Rao compered the event. Honorary secretary A P K Pothi delivered the vote of thanks.
