Banaskantha, Feb 27: A tragic road accident in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district claimed the lives of five people, including a couple and their two young sons, while leaving nine others injured after an SUV collided head-on with a bus, police said.
The accident occurred around 4:30 PM near Amirgadh town when an SUV crashed into a Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation bus traveling toward Sirohi, Rajasthan.
According to police inspector S.K. Parmar, the SUV driver, identified as 32-year-old Dilip Khokhria, was driving recklessly on the wrong side of the highway. The collision proved fatal for him, his wife Mevliben (28), their sons Rohit (6) and Ritwik (3), and Sundariben Solanki (60), all residents of Dhanpura village in Amirgadh taluka.

Despite the bus driver’s attempt to avert the crash, the impact was unavoidable due to the SUV's wrong-side entry onto the highway. Among the nine injured, six were bus passengers, officials confirmed.
Authorities are investigating the accident, urging motorists to adhere to traffic rules to prevent such devastating incidents.
