Ahmedabad, Feb 28: Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), the renewable energy arm of Adani Group, has achieved a major milestone, surpassing 12,000 megawatts (MW) of operational renewable energy capacity, making it the first and only company in India to reach this landmark.

In an official statement, AGEL confirmed that its total operational portfolio now stands at 12,258.1 MW, comprising:

• 8,347.5 MW Solar Energy

• 1,651 MW Wind Energy

• 2,259.6 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid

The company emphasized that this achievement reinforces its commitment to delivering 50,000 MW of clean, affordable, and reliable power by 2030.

The 12,258.1 MW operational portfolio will power over 6.2 million homes while preventing 22.64 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

AGEL is also developing the world’s largest renewable energy plant at Khavda, Gujarat, with a total planned capacity of 30,000 MW. This massive project spans 538 sq km and, once completed, will be the largest power plant globally across all energy sources. So far, 2,824.1 MW of renewable energy capacity has been operationalized at Khavda.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to India's 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity target by 2030.

“The rapid progress at Khavda highlights AGEL’s leadership in India’s renewable energy mission. The project is progressing at a fast pace, leveraging expertise from Adani Infra, Adani New Industries Limited, Adani Infrastructure Management Services Ltd., and strategic supply chain partners,” AGEL stated.

With an operational renewable portfolio of 12.2 GW spread across 12 states, Adani Green Energy remains India’s largest renewable energy company. The firm aims to achieve 50 GW by 2030, in alignment with India's decarbonization goals.

At the COP26 climate summit in 2021, India committed to an ambitious “Panchamrit” pledge, which includes:

• 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity

• 50% of total energy requirements from renewables

• A reduction of emissions by 1 billion tonnes by 2030

• A 45% reduction in emissions intensity of GDP

• Net-zero emissions by 2070

Green energy remains at the heart of India's climate strategy, with Adani Green Energy playing a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future.
