Dr Shubha H S takes charge as director of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC)

Udupi, Mar 1: Dr Shubha H S, professor & head - BA programme, Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC), Manipal took over as the director, MIC, Manipal.

She took charge from the outgoing director, Dr Padma Rani. Dr Shubha brings extensive expertise in media and communication academics and international collaborations. With over 24 years of experience in media and communication education, Dr Shubha has held key academic roles at Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC), MAHE Dubai Campus & Hochschule Bremen University of applied sciences in Germany.

Her early career during 1992 to 2002 includes roles at industry in Oman, Bengaluru, New Delhi and Manipal. She started her academic journey as a lecturer at MIC, Manipal in 2002. She also served as a faculty member at the department of media, MAHE Dubai Campus from 2006 to 2010. She has served as the head of department of Media Studies, MIC, Manipal since 2015. Additionally, she has led production of over 350 audio-visual projects through the Multimedia Resource Centre, MAHE and served as the jury member at the Bengaluru International Film Festival in 2023.

She has led and facilitated numerous international collaborations, including successful grant applications for Erasmus+ funding for faculty and student exchanges with Volda University College - Norway, and the DAAD-ISAP Program with Hochschule Bremen, Germany.

Additionally, she has also completed certifications in leadership and strategy, including the SMILE 3.0 (synergic manipal integrated leadership engagement programme) and the strategy and innovation capacity building programme at MAHE. She was also part of the comprehensive succession planning programme conducted by MAHE during 2024-25.

Dr Padma Rani served in office from December 15, 2017 to February 28, 2025.
