Bengaluru, Mar 1: Former Infosys CFO T.V. Mohandas Pai met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at his residence in Bengaluru’s Sadashivanagar on Saturday to discuss the city’s development.

After the meeting, Pai expressed optimism, stating, "We are hopeful that with the blessings of god, Shivakumar will contribute to Bengaluru’s progress." He urged the Deputy CM, who also oversees Bengaluru’s development, to become a hero for the city and address key concerns.

Pai highlighted Bengaluru’s economic strength, noting its $15,000 per capita income, making it India’s richest city and a global hub for startups and science. The discussion focused on critical issues, including infrastructure, cleanliness, pedestrian-friendly footpaths, public transport, and metro expansion.

Shivakumar assured Pai of visible improvements within six to eight months and promised to personally oversee the city's development efforts.

During the meeting, former Mayor Sampath Raj and senior leader Tanveer were also present.

Pai also criticized the Congress-led government, accusing it of mismanaging Bengaluru. Responding to Pai’s remarks, IT & BT Minister Priyank Kharge defended the government, stating, “We have never stepped back from our responsibility to build an economic powerhouse.”

Pai had questioned Kharge on X (formerly Twitter) about Congress' role in Bengaluru’s development over the past two years. In response, Kharge asserted that Congress has always been committed to the city's growth and challenged Pai to support Karnataka’s demand for its rightful share of central funds.
