Madhya Pradesh courts to go fully digital within a year: CM Mohan Yadav

Ujjain, Mar 2: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced that all courts in the state will be fully digitised within a year, enabling virtual functioning and online tracking of summons and warrants.

Speaking at the ‘Vikramotsav - 2025’ event in Ujjain, the Chief Minister highlighted the need to modernise judicial processes, stating that a large portion of police and administrative manpower is currently being used for judicial purposes.

"The Madhya Pradesh government is implementing a new system that will maximise the use of virtual technology in judicial functioning. This reform will be in place within a year," he said.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Yadav lauded the introduction of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which he said would revolutionise legal procedures.

"The new laws will allow issuance, service, and execution of legal documents through electronic communication channels, marking a significant milestone in judicial reforms," he stated.

He also noted that Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in India to notify regulations for this initiative, setting a precedent for digital transformation in the judicial system.

The announcement follows last month’s principal district and sessions judges conference in Jabalpur, where the state government launched the ‘Tvarit’ initiative—a digital platform for transmitting warrants, summons, and reports electronically.

The conference was attended by chief justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, justice Suresh Kumar Kait, along with justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari, members of the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (MP SLSA), the State Judicial Academy, and other dignitaries.

With Madhya Pradesh leading the way in judicial digitisation, the initiative is expected to bring greater efficiency and transparency to the legal system.
