Mehsana, Mar 2: In a significant boost to Gujarat’s educational landscape, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed Vidya Bhavan and Cultural Hall at Pilvai, Vijapur Taluka, Mehsana district.
The project, undertaken by the Sheth Girdharlal Chunilal High School Trust, Pilvai, is a tribute to a former student. The Shri Sundarlal Mangaldas Shah Cultural Hall and Shri Anilchandra Gokaldas Shah Vidya Bhavan were officially inaugurated in the presence of esteemed guests.

During his visit, Amit Shah toured the modern smart classrooms, high-tech computer labs, and upgraded academic spaces, interacting with students about their learning experiences. Acknowledging his contributions, the school trustees presented Shah and his family’s trust with a commemorative memento and a shawl as a token of gratitude.
The trust members emphasized the institution’s rich legacy since 1927 and its commitment to providing quality education. They also announced plans for a grand centenary celebration (Shatabdi Mahotsav) in 2026, marking 100 years of educational excellence.
The grand inauguration witnessed the presence of Jay Shah (BCCI President and Amit Shah’s son), Gujarat Health Minister Rishikesh Patel, Rajya Sabha MP Mayank Nayak, Lok Sabha MP Haribhai Patel, and prominent community leader Girishbhai Rajgor.
Additionally, key government officials, including District collector SK Prajapati, District Development Officer Hasrat Jaismin, and Resident Additional Collector J.K. Jegoda, attended the event, alongside trustees, students, and social leaders.
With an allocation of Rs 59,999 crore for the Education Department in the 2025-26 fiscal year, the Gujarat government is placing significant emphasis on educational infrastructure. This accounts for 14.8% of the state’s total budget, aligning closely with the national average of 15% dedicated to education.
