Mangaluru, Mar 3: In today’s fast-moving world, awareness about food safety among the public has been declining. Though ‘health is wealth’ is a popular saying, due to lack of time, dependence of people on packet food and junk food is increasing.
In this context, the department of commerce in joint collaboration with Jagruthi Consumer Club organized a guest talk on ‘Safe Food – Healthy Life’ to create an awareness about food safety, for the benefit of the students.

Srividya B, assistant professor of commerce, Besant Evening College, Mangaluru was the resource person. Srividya B took the students through a beautiful session wherein she explained the various ways of food adulteration and precautions to be taken while consuming packaged food. She also gave an insight into various legal measures available in case of food adulteration.
IQAC coordinator Dr Therese Pereira, presided over the programme. In her presidential address she advised the students to be aware of adulterated food and remain healthy by avoiding junk food.
The student welfare officer Dr Santhosh Pinto & IQAC co-coordinator Jyothi Shetty were present on the dais. Dhanushree of III BCom. welcomed the gathering, Harsha of II BCom proposed vote of thanks. Shreya of III BCom compered the programme.
