Jaipur, Mar 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to global sustainability and the Pro Planet People (P3) approach, emphasizing the country's dedication to the principles of a Circular Economy. In a special message addressed to delegates at the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia, which began in Jaipur on Monday, PM Modi reiterated India’s willingness to share its experiences and innovations in sustainability with the world.

The three-day forum was inaugurated in the presence of Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and several distinguished dignitaries.

In his message, PM Modi highlighted the importance of the 3R principles—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—as key drivers of sustainable urban development and resource efficiency. He also underscored India’s leadership in global sustainability efforts, referencing initiatives like Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and the Panchamrit Goals announced at COP26, which reaffirm India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.

Union Minister Manohar Lal, addressing the gathering, praised Jaipur as a fitting venue for the forum, citing the city's historical commitment to sustainable practices such as rainwater harvesting and handicraft production using recycled materials.

To further India's vision for sustainability, the minister announced the launch of the Cities Coalition for Circularity (C-3)—a multi-nation alliance aimed at fostering city-to-city collaboration, knowledge exchange, and private sector partnerships in resource efficiency. He proposed forming a working group of member nations to finalize the coalition’s structure and operational framework.

Stressing that a Circular Economy is not just an environmental necessity but also an economic imperative, Manohar Lal outlined India’s focus on sustainable solutions, including bio-CNG production, plastic waste management, and e-waste recycling. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to creating a low-carbon, resource-efficient society.

As a major outcome of the forum, the minister announced the adoption of the Jaipur Declaration (2025-2034)—a non-political, non-binding framework that will guide the next decade of global efforts in sustainable urban development and resource conservation.

With policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers coming together, the forum is set to act as a catalyst for shaping a future built on sustainability, efficiency, and innovation.
