Two workers killed, one injured in slab collapse at Maharashtra's Chikhla mines

Mumbai, Mar 5: A tragic accident at the Chikhla mines of Manganese Ore (India) Limited (MOIL) in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district claimed the lives of two workers and left another injured on Wednesday, officials reported.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. during the first shift at a depth of 100 meters, according to a statement from the Bhandara Disaster Management Office.

Three workers, all permanent employees, were trapped under the debris when a slab collapsed. Two of them, identified as Vijay Nandlal (50) and Arun Chormar (41), lost their lives at the scene. The third worker, 56-year-old Shankar Vishvakarma, was rescued and rushed to a hospital in Bhandara for medical treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were sent to a hospital in Tumsar for postmortem examination. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse.
