New Delhi, March 5: Technology has the potential to increase India’s growth rate by 2-3%, said NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam on Wednesday as he launched the NITI Frontier Tech Hub (NITI-FTH)—a pioneering initiative aimed at transforming India into a technology-driven economy.

The newly launched NITI-FTH will act as a frontier tech action tank, fostering advanced technological innovations to accelerate India’s economic and social development. The initiative also seeks to promote emerging technologies that contribute to both human progress and environmental sustainability, reinforcing India’s commitment to human-centric tech solutions on the global stage.

Speaking to IANS, Subrahmanyam emphasized the rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and biological sciences, noting their transformative potential across multiple sectors.

“These technologies can be leveraged in education, employment, job searches, agriculture, manufacturing, and governance, significantly improving productivity, efficiency, and economic growth,” he stated.

Currently, India ranks as the fifth-largest economy globally and is projected to become the third-largest in the coming years. To sustain this economic momentum, Subrahmanyam stressed the need for India to lead in technological advancements.

“The government is committed to developing human-centric technologies that enhance quality of life, boost income levels, and simplify everyday tasks,” he added.

Highlighting India’s growing influence in the global tech landscape, Minister for Communications and Development of the North-East Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, spoke about the nation’s rapid strides in technology and telecommunications.

Addressing the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, he announced that the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) will be held in New Delhi from October 8 to 11, 2025.

“India is poised to lead in emerging technologies like 6G, AI, and quantum computing, and IMC has played a crucial role in shaping progress within the telecom and tech sectors,” Scindia stated.

With the launch of NITI-FTH and India’s growing focus on next-generation technologies, the country is well-positioned to emerge as a global powerhouse in technological innovation and digital transformation.

India primarily follows rather than leads in innovation, often clinging to past cultural glories without actively advancing science and logical thinking to address modern challenges. In difficult times, it tends to attribute struggles to past karma, which can discourage proactive problem-solving. Instead of fostering positive action, fear is instilled in the minds of innocent people, serving as a means of control.
