Mangaluru, Mar 5: The much-awaited historical drama Shivaji, directed by Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, is set to be staged in Kateel on March 6 and at Town Hall, Mangaluru, on March 13.
The title song of the drama will be in Kannada, while the dialogues will primarily be in Tulu, with some Hindi as well. The story is written by Shashiraj Kavoor, with three songs composed by Manikanth Kadri.
Preethesh Ballalbagh, known for his role as Guliga in the popular drama Shivaduthe Gulige, will play the lead role of Shivaji. The screenplay is crafted by Pramod Maravanthe and Shashiraj Kavoor.
Actor Pruthvi Ambar has provided the voice for the role of Shivaji, while Naveen D Padil voices the character of Gurudadaji. Dr Devdas Kapikad and Patla Satish Shetty have lent their voices to the songs in the drama.
"Shivaji was a protector of Hinduism, but he never harbored hatred towards other religions. Distorting history is an offense. Those who truly understand Shivaji recognize him as a great emperor. If people learn his full story, they will realize he was tolerant of all religions. Those unaware of Shivaji’s legacy should watch our upcoming historical play. Their perception of him will surely change," said senior theatre artist and director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail.
Music director Manikanth Kadri, Shashiraj Kavoor, AK Vijay, and Preethesh Ballalbagh were also present at the event.
