Mangaluru: AIMIT celebrates Ash Wednesday

Media Release

Mangaluru, Mar 6: St Aloysius Deemed to be University (AIMIT) marked the solemn beginning of the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday service. The service commenced with the traditional blessing and imposition of ashes on the devotees, a significant ritual that symbolizes repentance and renewal in the Christian faith.

In his homily, (Dr) Fr Kiran Cotha SJ, highlighted the profound significance of Ash Wednesday. He spoke about how the ashes represent both death and repentance, urging to embrace this season as a time of reflection, renewal, and spiritual growth. “Ash Wednesday calls us to remember our mortality, to reflect on the transient nature of life, and to turn our hearts towards repentance and renewal," he said.

The ceremony, attended by faculty, staff, and students, was a meaningful reflection on the spiritual journey of Lent.
