Bengaluru, March 7: Kannada actress Ranya Rao, who was arrested in a major gold smuggling case involving Rs 15 crore worth of gold, is suspected of receiving Rs 12 lac per trip to Dubai, according to officials.
Rao, who is accused of smuggling gold, reportedly made four trips to Dubai within just 15 days and travelled to Saudi Arabia 30 times in the last year. It is alleged that on every trip, she was involved in smuggling gold. Investigations have suggested that she was paid Rs 12 lac each time to carry out the smuggling activity.

Authorities have revealed that a person in a private hotel bathroom in Dubai would hand over the gold to the actress. Rao would then conceal the gold bars by placing them around her waist and stomach, wrapping them with tape before boarding her return flight.
Ranya Rao, who is said to be related to senior IPS officer DGP Ramachandra Rao, was arrested on March 3 at the Bengaluru International Airport on charges of smuggling 12 kilograms of gold. In addition to the gold, authorities have seized jewellery and cash worth Rs 17 crore from the actress.
