Light tremors felt in several parts of Kodagu district

Bengaluru, March 12: Light tremors with a magnitude of 1.6 on the Richter scale were felt in various parts of Kodagu district on Wednesday, March 12.

The epicentre of the tremors was located 2.4 km to the northwest of Madenaadu Grama Panchayat, at a depth of 5 km.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported that the tremors occurred around 10:49 AM, with a recorded magnitude of 1.6 on the Richter scale.

The tremors were experienced in a 15 to 20-kilometre radius around Madenaadu, causing anxiety among the residents. However, the KSNDMC confirmed that no damage or casualties were reported from the incident.

Kodagu had also experienced similar tremors in 2018 and again last year.
