Tulu films ‘Pidai’ & ‘Daskath’ bag top honours at Bengaluru International Film Festival

Mangaluru, Mar 13:The Tulu film Pidai, directed by Santhosh Mad and starring Sharath Lohitashwa, has won the second-best film award at the 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival. Meanwhile, Daskath, directed by Anish Poojary Venoor of Comedy Kiladigalu fame, secured the third-best film award.

Karnataka governor Thaawarchand Gehlot presented the awards at a ceremony held at the Karnataka Information and Public Relations Department auditorium.

Following the Tulu children's film Moogajjana Koli, Pidai was produced under the Namma Kanasu banner by K Suresh. Ramesh Shettigar Manjeshwar penned the story, screenplay, and dialogues, while Santhosh Mad, a national award-winning director for Jeetige, helmed the project. The film has already been showcased at several international film festivals, including the Kolkata International Film Festival.

Daskath

Produced by Raghavendra Kudva under the Seventy Seven Studios banner and presented by Krishna J Palemar, Daskath is directed by Anish Poojary Venoor. The film revolves around the struggles of villagers in obtaining a government officer’s signature (Daskath), shedding light on various hardships of rural life in Tulu Nadu. With intriguing twists, Daskath has received an enthusiastic response from audiences.
