Mangaluru, Mar 13: The International Women’s Day was celebrated at St Aloysius B Ed College with the theme ‘Empowered women empower world’. The celebration was marked by an inspiring address from the chief guest, Corrine A Rasquinha, (founder, White Doves Trust, Mangalore), who emphasized the need to bridge the gap between men and women, extend support to the underprivileged, and cultivate generosity in society.

Rasquinha also shed light on the need to reach out to both poor men and women, ensuring that they have access to livelihood opportunities and highlighted the value of generosity in terms of empowerment to those in need.

Presiding over the programme, Dr Farita Viegas, principal, delivered a speech on the theme ‘Empowered women empower the world.’ She highlighted that true empowerment is not just about personal achievement but about equipping women with education, leadership opportunities, and decision-making opportunities. She said that empowered women strengthen families and cause social and economic progress. Support women by providing equal opportunities and safe environments that their empowerment leads to real and lasting change.
The programme began with an invocation, followed by a welcome speech. The students performed a dance drama reflecting the theme and sang a song featuring the various roles of women. The event ended with the college anthem. Sarika Rodrigues, staff coordinator, organized the programme.
