Buldhana, Mar 14: Kailash Nagre, a 42-year-old farmer who was honored with Maharashtra’s ‘Yuva Shetkari’ award in 2020, tragically took his own life on Thursday due to ongoing struggles with crop failure and irrigation issues.
The incident occurred in Shivni Aarmal village in Deulgaonraja tehsil, where Nagre consumed poison at his farm, a police official from Andhera police station confirmed.
A four-page suicide note left behind by the farmer expressed his deep distress over poor crop yields and a severe shortage of water for irrigation. He urged the government to take concrete steps to address the water crisis affecting agricultural lands. However, the note did not hold anyone directly responsible for his extreme decision.

Authorities have registered an accidental death report, and further investigations are underway.
