Sabarkantha, Mar 14: In a shocking incident, a Dalit man was brutally beaten and paraded naked in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district by the husband and relatives of a woman with whom he was allegedly having an affair, police said on Thursday.

A video of the assault, which occurred on the night of March 11, surfaced on social media, showing the young man, believed to be in his twenties, being stripped, harassed, and attacked by a mob as he walked helplessly through the streets.

Authorities took action after the video went viral, registering an FIR against the woman’s husband and his family members.

According to Sabarkantha Superintendent of Police Vijay Patel, the victim was forcibly taken from his house in Idar town, about 20 km from Himmatnagar, thrashed, and paraded naked before being released—only after being forced to sign an apology letter.

Following the emergence of the viral footage, police traced the victim and filed a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.
