Islamabad, Jan 16 (Agencies): Pakistani-American businessman on Monday Mansoor Ijaz sought time till January 25 to appear before a Pakistani judicial commission investigating memo scandal.
Ijaz's lawyer says he is being threatened. He will be in Pakistan by January 25. The memogate commission asked the counsel to explain clearly whether Ijaz intends to come to Pakistan.
He was expected to hold President Zardari responsible for the memo allegedly seeking US help to avert a coup in Pakistan after the Osama raid.
Ijaz created a storm in Pakistan's political circles and triggered a standoff between the civilian government and the military by making public the mysterious memo that sought US help to stave off a possible military coup after the killing of Osama bin Laden in May 2011.
This is a case that pits the government directly against the Pakistan Army.
