Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School holds COLLOQUIUM 2025 to honour achievers, inspire students

Mangaluru, Mar 15: LCS COLLOQUIUM 2025, a significant event of Lourdes Central School aimed at honouring the achievers of classes IX and XI, was held on Saturday, March 15 at the Bejai Church Hall.

The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, chief guest Dr Melwin Colaco, registrar, St Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, manager Dr John Baptist Saldanha, principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principals Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas, Bejai Parish Pastoral committee vice president Ashok Pinto on the stage during this proud occasion.

The programme commenced with a prayer dance, creating a spiritual connection in a profound manner.

Eva Lisa Lobo of class IX addressed the gathering, setting the tone for the event. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolized the illumination of knowledge and marked the beginning of the colloquium.

Following this, the dignitaries, felicitated the students of classes IX and XI who had achieved remarkable milestone such as securing 100% attendance, ranking among the top three scorers, and attaining above 90%. Shaila Pereira and Gowri Ravi announced the names of the achievers.

The chief guest Dr Melwin Colaco was formally introduced by ma’am Jayashree and felicitated by the dignitaries.

In his keynote address, Dr Melwin Colaco emphasized the six soft skills of the 21st century that students need to possess to be successful in life. Curiosity, critical thinking, embracing challenges, adaptability and collaboration, resilience, and time management were the highlights of his talk. Inspirational videos and the lives of various personalities added more weight to his presentation. He also motivated parents and guardians to guide and support their wards during this crucial phase of life.

The floor was then opened for an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing both parents and students to engage with the speaker.

Dr John Baptist Saldana addressed the gathering, sharing his insights on the challenges students face in coping with stress. He encouraged students to have open dialogues with their parents, teachers, and peers whenever they encounter stressful situations in life. He also advised parents and students to invest more time in family interactions and reduce the use of electronic gadgets.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Kshtij Shetty of class XI expressing gratitude to all those who contributed in making the Colloquium a grand success. The programme came to close with School anthem. The programme was compered by Shriyana S Mallya and Steffie D’Souza of class IX.

LCS COLLOQUIUM 2025 proved to be an inspiring and memorable event, leaving a lasting impact on both students and faculty.
