Mangaluru, Mar 15: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, celebrated its 'Merit Day' on March 15 honoring students who excelled during the 2024-25 academic year. The event aimed to recognize the importance of ambition in achieving success and to uplift student morale by acknowledging their unwavering commitment and perseverance.
The chief guest for the occasion was Dr P Subba Rao, a renowned pediatrician who inspired all with his address and expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by the college. He encouraged the students to make the most of the resources available at the college and emphasized on how to build their future by focusing on post graduate studies and bring the best in oneself to make a difference to the society.
The merit certificates to over 127 deserving students were presented by the chief guest Dr P Subba Rao, principal Sr Dr M Venissa AC, administrator Sr Carmel Rita AC, PG coordinator Sr Dr M Vinora AC.
The event was graced by the presence of vice principal Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigues, dean’s of various departments, heads of the departments, faculty members and other dignitaries.
The program commenced with a prayerful song led by the Alice Lobo and team invoking divine blessings, followed by a vibrant welcome dance. Dr Sapna Kumari M, head of PG Chemistry Department introduced the guest and extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The event was compered by Anusha Noronha, assistant professor, Department of Commerce, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Dolan Champa Banerjee, hod & assistant professor, PG Department of Commerce (MCom).
As the event concluded, a discernible wave of pride and fulfilment swept through the attendees, bringing students and faculty together in celebration. The success of merit day reflects the diligence and passion of the St Agnes community, urging all to continue striving for excellence in the years ahead.
