Karkala, Jan 16: Three-day annual festival is being organized at Attur St Lawrence Church in Nitte village near here from January 24. In this connection, the nine-day programme of prayers, ‘Novena’, was initiated on Sunday January 15.

MLA, H Gopal Bhandary, initiated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. “Attur Church stands tall as a fine example for religious harmony. People from all religions enthusiastically take part in the annual festival here. All facilities are in place for this year’s annual festival,” he noted.

Zilla panchayat member, Kedinje Supreet Shetty, addressing those present on the occasion, said that Attur Church has been reaffirming the fact that the Lord is one, irrespective which religion one practices.

Taluk panchayat member, Pravin Salian, gram panchayat president, Malati Kishore, Church priest, Arthur Pereira, parish council vice president, John D’Silva, and others were present.
