Jaipur, Mar 20: Rajasthan Royals have announced that young all-rounder Riyan Parag will take over as captain for the first three matches of IPL 2025. The decision comes as regular skipper Sanju Samson is unavailable due to national commitments.
Parag, who has been a key player for the Royals over the past few seasons, will step into the leadership role for the initial phase of the tournament. Known for his aggressive batting and handy off-spin, the 23-year-old has expressed confidence in leading the team.
Speaking about the decision, Rajasthan Royals’ management stated, "Riyan has shown tremendous growth in his game and leadership skills. We believe he has the potential to lead the team effectively in these crucial opening games."
The franchise remains optimistic about a strong start under Parag's leadership before Samson returns to resume captaincy. The Royals will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 23.
