Udupi: Two more arrested in Malpe assault case, 2 police constables suspended

Udupi, Mar 20: The investigation into the assault case of a woman being tied to a tree and beaten at Malpe port continues, with two accused, Leela and Parvati, arrested in connection with the incident. Additionally, two police constables have been suspended for negligence.

The victim, a woman from Vijayapura, was allegedly assaulted over accusations of stealing fish.

With this, the total number of arrests in the case has risen to five. As part of the ongoing probe, the Malpe police station's beat constables were suspended for failing to gather accurate information regarding the incident.


Accused Parvati & Leela

The State Women's Commission has strongly condemned the brutal attack and directed authorities to take appropriate legal action against those responsible. It has also sought a detailed report on the actions taken at the earliest.
