Panaji, Mar 21: The Goa government has announced that the franking system for stamp duty payment will be discontinued from April 1, with digital alternatives set to replace the traditional process.

According to officials, the move aims to streamline stamp duty transactions, reduce manual processing, and enhance transparency in financial dealings. Citizens will now be required to use e-stamping or physical stamp papers for legal documents and property transactions.

State revenue minister stated that the shift to digital methods is in line with the government’s push for modernization and ease of doing business. "The decision to end franking will simplify procedures and prevent fraudulent activities associated with stamp duty payments," he said.

Authorities have urged individuals and businesses to familiarize themselves with the new process before the transition takes effect next month.
