Mumbai, Mar 21: Senior Tulu-Kannadiga politician Lakshman C Poojary Chitrapu has been appointed as the Northeast (North Mumbai) district convener of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) under the leadership of Sharadchandra Pawar. The official announcement was made by Rakhi Jadhav, president of the Mumbai region NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction).
Originally from Chitrapu in Mulki, Dakshina Kannada, Lakshman Poojary is the son of Chennappa Poojary and Janaki Poojary. Known for his simplicity and integrity, he is a senior and experienced politician dedicated to public service. Previously associated with the All India Congress Committee (AICC), he was a candidate in the 1997 BMC elections. Since the formation of the NCP in 1999, he has actively served in various capacities within the party.

Recognized as a close associate of NCP national president Sharad Pawar, Lakshman Poojari has held key positions, including member of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), member of the Western Regional Railway Board, former president of the Chitrapu Billava Association, and vice president of the Mulki Billava Association Mumbai Committee.
