Udupi, Mar 21: “It was wrong to tie and beat her, no one can justify it, and the case cannot be withdrawn now," said former minister and former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, addressing media on Friday March 21.

Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, said, “He woman who stole the fish should have been handed over to the police. One should not take the law into their own hands. The case is registered, and the decision should be made in court. The photo and video have gone viral on social media and are recorded. Such incidents should never happen again. A complaint about the fish theft should have been filed earlier. The management must ensure that all CCTV cameras are functioning properly.”

Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, stating the honey trap issue, said, “No one should fall into such a trap. It is wrong to set up a honey trap or to get caught in it. The government has said it will investigate and take action. The Chief Minister has assured security. If anyone knows who is behind the honey trap, they should reveal it. When I think about the political times back in the day, it brings back memories. It is frustrating to see the changes now. When electing leaders, people must be cautious. Is it wrong to set a trap, or is it wrong to fall into one? We must be aware and not fall into temptations. Temptation is a dangerous thing.”

Jayaprakash Hegde further stated about the speaker incident as a big mistake to go up on the stage when the speaker is seated. “As the Speaker holds the highest position in the House, and one should not approach their seat. If someone who is responsible for upholding the law in the House cannot respect the law outside, what law are they going to create for others? Is there no dignity for that position? What kind of decorum is there for that chair?”
