Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mar 21: As the clamour for the removal of Aurangzeb’s grave grows, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has reached Khultabad in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to inspect the site and monitor suspicious activities.

The move comes in the wake of the March 17 violence in Nagpur, which erupted over the issue. The NIA team has also visited Parbhani, Jalna, Nanded, and Buldhana districts to keep a close watch on any potential threats. The agency is working in coordination with the state Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).

Meanwhile, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has placed tin sheets around two sides of Aurangzeb’s tomb, a protected ‘Monument of National Importance.’ The move followed a visit by District Collector Dilip Swami and Superintendent of Police Vinaykumar Rathod.

Nagpur police have registered a sedition case against six individuals, including alleged mastermind Fahim Khan, in connection with the riots. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Lohit Matani said that investigations into over 300 social media accounts are underway, with 140 found to have posted objectionable content. Legal action is being initiated against those responsible.

Additionally, Maharashtra Cyber, in collaboration with Nagpur Cyber Police, has flagged over 140 instances of inflammatory content on social media platforms. Authorities have issued takedown notices under the IT Act and BNSS, 2023, to trace the identities of those behind the posts.

As tensions simmer, law enforcement agencies remain on high alert, ensuring that the situation does not escalate further.
