Mangaluru: NUINS organizes annualday celebration ‘UDAAN 2K25’

Mangaluru, Mar 21: The Annual Day Celebration, UDAAN 2K25, by NITTE USHA INSTITUTE OF NURSING SCIENCES (NUINS), was held on Friday, March 21 in the university grounds, Paneer campus. The event was attended by faculty, students, and distinguished guests. The programme commenced with an invocation, invoking blessings for the success of the event. This was followed by the inauguration by the esteemed dignitaries. The event was presided over by Vishal Hegde, pro chancellor (admin) of NITTE (Deemed to be University), and graced by the presence of the chief guest, K S Bharati, senior consultant & former joint secretary of the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi.

Prof Dr Sabitha Nayak delivered the welcome address, extending a warm welcome to the dignitaries and attendees while highlighting the significance of the Annual Day celebration. Prof Dr Fatima D’Silva, principal of NUINS, presented a comprehensive report on the institute's progress and accomplishments and the achievements of NUINS over the past year.

The event featured the official release of the college magazine 'DARPAN 2K25' by the dignitaries and Sukesh, along with a book titled ‘Professionalism, professional values, and ethics, including bioethics for BSc nursing’, authored by Veeresh Kademani and Theja B C. K S Bharati, senior consultant & former joint secretary of the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, was honored for her remarkable contributions towards the nursing profession.

Her dedication, leadership, and impactful work have significantly influenced nursing education and practice across the country. Meritorious students were recognized through the distribution of cultural and academic awards. The dean's honor award was presented to sister Jeevitha Lobo, a BSc nursing student, and Rolwyn Rohan D’Silva, a GNM student, in recognition of their exceptional leadership skills and outstanding overall performance in their respective programmes.

On this occasion, the MCH Lab was jointly inaugurated by Vishal Hedge, pro-chancellor (admin) of Nitte (Deemed to be University), and the chief guest, K S Bharati, senior consultant & former joint secretary of the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi.

The event concluded with inspiring addresses from esteemed speakers. K S Bharati, the chief guest, emphasized the significance of dedication and compassion in nursing practice. This was followed by the presidential address delivered by Vishal Hegde, who encouraged students to strive for excellence in their academic and professional pursuits.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Cleeta Anline Pinto, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, students, and the organizing committee for their efforts in making the event a success. The evening concluded with a vibrant cultural programme, showcasing the talents of NUINS students. The programme ended with a delightful dinner, fostering camaraderie and celebration.
