Mangaluru, Mar 22: The students of Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), in association with Prithvi Mitra, staged a street play to raise awareness about waste management at City Centre Mall, on Saturday, March 15. The event aimed to promote the concept of the three ‘Rs’ (reduce, reuse, and recycle) and encourage sustainable waste management practices among the public.
The street play, performed by MSNIM students, showcased practical ways to incorporate waste reduction techniques in daily life. It was followed by an interactive session, where the audience engaged in discussions on effective household waste management methods. Abhishek Bhandary and Abijith Hegde from Prithvi Mitra shared insights on sustainable waste disposal and the environmental impact of improper waste management.

Prithvi Mitra, co-founded by Abhishek Bhandary and Vishwas U S, is a pioneering social startup committed to advancing the circular economy by converting waste into valuable resources. Their initiatives include setting up waste collection areas in public places and using QR codes to provide the public with easy access to information on waste management and sustainability. The organization actively works to prevent environmental degradation by highlighting the impact of waste on marine and terrestrial life.
Adding a touch of excitement to the event, MSNIM students staged a flash mob, capturing the audience’s attention. This was followed by the much-anticipated banner drop, announcing Edify 2025, the institute’s flagship intercollegiate management and cultural fest. Celebrating 25 years of excellence, Edify is a two-day event that attracts over 1,000 students from undergraduate and postgraduate institutions, providing a platform to showcase leadership and creative talent.
Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, director of MSNIM, along with faculty members, attended the event. The programme was coordinated by assistant professor Sathvika Shetty.
