Sehore, Mar 24: In a shocking incident mirroring the recent Mauganj attack, a police team in Sehore district faced a brutal assault late Saturday night.

A team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Ramnarayan Dhurve was dispatched to Kheri village in Ichhawar following reports of a dispute. However, upon arrival, the officers were ambushed by five villagers Hemraj, Vishal, Gajraj, Rahul, and Bhura armed with sticks.

SI Dhurve sustained serious injuries, forcing his two fellow constables to retreat for safety. The injured officer was rushed to the district hospital, while police confirmed that cases had been registered against the attackers.

Senior police officials acknowledged the incident but refrained from sharing further details. However, sources indicated that the attack stemmed from a personal dispute.

The conflict reportedly began after a local resident, Kamlesh, married a woman from a nearby village. Upon learning about the marriage, her family reached Kheri late at night, prompting Kamlesh and his relatives to flee their home in fear. Taking advantage of the deserted house, miscreants vandalized the property, leading villagers to alert the police.

This marks the fourth attack on police officers within a week. In Mauganj’s Gadra village, an ASI and a young man were killed in an attack. In Damoh, an ASI was shot during a standoff over a weapons seizure, while in Shahdol’s Budhar, a group of women pelted stones at police officers, injuring several.

With rising cases of violence against law enforcement, authorities are on high alert.
