Daijiworld Media Network- Muktsar
Muktsar, Mar 25: In a bizarre incident, a 13-year-old boy from Punjab’s Muktsar faked an Instagram extortion threat to avoid visiting his maternal relatives, prompting a police investigation before the truth was uncovered.
The boy claimed to have received threatening messages on Instagram, warning that his family would be harmed if he did not pay up. Concerned, his parents alerted the police, leading to a swift cyber investigation.

During the probe, police tracked digital footprints and discovered that the boy had created the fake threats himself to avoid a planned visit to his maternal family. Upon questioning, he admitted to orchestrating the entire hoax.
Authorities have counselled the child and his family, emphasizing the misuse of digital platforms and legal implications of false complaints. Officials urged parents to monitor children's online activities and educate them about responsible internet usage.
The incident serves as a wake-up call on digital awareness and the unexpected ways children use social media in today’s tech-driven world.
