Sahyadri Institute celebrates first graduation & lamp lighting ceremony for nursing students

Mangaluru, Mar 25: Sahyadri Institue of Health Sciences and College of Nursing marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its students' first graduation day and lamp lighting ceremony of 5th and 4th batch of BSc Nursing and GNM students. The ceremony was attended by esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, and graduating students.

Professor Sr Dhanya Devasia, principal of Father Muller School and College of Nursing, presided over the ceremony as the chief guest. Dr Shivaprakash D S, district surgeon and superintendent of Wenlock Hospital, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

The ceremony commenced with a procession of the graduates and new nurses and traditional lamp lighting, symbolising the illumination of knowledge and skills. David Rakesh, professor welcomed the gathering and read out the graduates oath.

The significance of the day was shared by Reena D’Souza, assistant lecturer. Principal-professor Merlin Sheeba Jinto administered the "Nightingales Oath" to the new nurses ushering them into the noble profession of nursing.

The Annual Report for the academic year 2023-2024 was presented by principal-professor Merlin Sheeba Jinto, highlighting the institution's achievements and milestones. Trustees of Nethaji Education and Charitable Trust, Dr Sharan J Shetty and Dr Shivasharan Shetty delivered the presidential address and administrator Uma Shetty was also present to extend their support to the institution.

Bhavya Babu, assistant lecturer and Jyoti Desai, assistant lecturer, introduced the chief guest and guest of honour.

Crystal, assistant professor was the in-charge of prize distribution. Ronita Serrao, lecturer delivered the vote of thanks, Sushmitha, Savitha, assistant lecturers were in charge of stage and refreshments. The other team which managed the event off stage had Reshma, lecturer and assistant lecturers Chaithra, Priya and Snehamol.

Suji M, assistant professor helped in invitation and logistics.

Jenitha Andrade, assistant lecturer was the master of ceremony of the entire ceremony.

The graduation day and lamp lighting ceremony marked a significant milestone in the lives of the graduating students. As they embark on their nursing careers, they carry with them the values of compassion, dedication, and excellence that Sahyadri Institute and College of Nursing, Kuloor embodies.
